What MononoMori Does for You

MononoMori helps you record your belongings—their names, quantities, categories, photos, and physical locations. You can start by treating it as an easily searchable inventory of your personal belongings, and gradually explore tags, item status, the Memory Forest, and Memory Handbooks as your organizing needs unfold.

Device Compatibility

This guide is designed for MononoMori on iPhone and iPad. System requirements may evolve with updates; please verify current compatibility on the MononoMori App Store product page. If your device indicates an incompatible OS version, update your iOS or use a supported device.

Installing the App

1. Open the App Store on your iOS device.
2. Search for “MononoMori” and confirm the app name and developer details.
3. Tap Get or the download button and wait for installation to complete.
4. Launch MononoMori from your Home Screen.

Upon first launch, the main interface will open, displaying the Forest, Overview, Memory, and More tabs at the bottom. If a welcome tour appears, feel free to review it or skip ahead—you can always revisit feature guides in More later.

Recommended Steps on Your First Day

1. Explore the interface first: Tap through Forest, Overview, Memory, and More to get familiar with the four spaces without feeling rushed to import everything.
2. Set up one small space: Create a Woodland named “Home”, and add a real cabinet or desk drawer as a Location.
3. Record a single everyday item: Entering an item’s accurate name and location is the most valuable first practice.
4. Confirm you can find it: Return to your Woodland or search for the item in Overview. Photos, tags, and category templates can be enriched gradually.

If subscription or allowance notices appear when trying certain features, read the prompt and continue exploring freely; seeing an upgrade prompt never implies that previous records are missing.

Optional: Choosing Your Forest Ambience

To customize the visual feel, go to More, locate Forest Ambience under “My Forest”, and choose between Daytime (Light), Nighttime (Dark), or Match System. Matching system uses your device’s current light/dark appearance. This setting only adjusts visual styling and does not alter your data.

Understanding iOS Permission Prompts

MononoMori requests iOS permissions only when specific features are invoked. You decide what to allow; declining will restrict that specific action, but permissions can always be re-enabled later in iOS Settings.

• Camera: Used to take photos of items during creation or editing. If declined, you can still import photos from your library.
• Photos: Used to import existing pictures from your Photo Library. You can use iOS’s “Select Photos” to grant access only to chosen images.
• Notifications: Used for optional reminders and expiry alerts. Whether push notifications appear also depends on in-app reminder settings and iOS notification permissions.

Data Protection Before Major Cataloging

MononoMori saves your data locally on your device. You can create manual backups within Data Management and set up iCloud Sync as needed. Sync and backup serve different purposes, and both depend on your Apple ID, network, and iCloud Drive availability. Before inputting large volumes of belongings, read Forest Backup & Restore.

Before uninstalling the app or signing out of iCloud, never assume that a cloud copy is complete without verifying. Always export a manual backup file to a safe location first.
