🚨 Core Principle: Data Sovereignty

Before starting any operation, remember:

1. No Developer Backdoor: We do not have “Super Admin” access to recover your password or data.
2. Local First: Data is stored primarily on your device and your personal iCloud.
3. Backup is the Only Solution: Without a backup, if the device is destroyed and iCloud fails, data is lost forever.

🗑️ Scenario 1: Accidental Deletion (Level 1)

Slipped and deleted an important item? Don’t panic, MononoMori has an undo button.

Solution: Recycle Bin

1. Go to Settings > Data Management.
2. Tap “Recycle Bin”.
3. Find the deleted item (or category, space).
4. Swipe left and select “Restore”.

Note: Items in the Recycle Bin are typically kept for 30 days (or per your setting), after which they are permanently purged.

📱 Scenario 2: Lost or New Device (Level 2)

Got a new phone, or lost the old one?

Solution: iCloud Auto Sync

If you previously enabled iCloud Sync:

1. Download MononoMori on the new device.
2. Sign in with the same Apple ID.
3. Ensure iCloud Drive permission is enabled in system settings.
4. Open the App and wait a few minutes; data will “grow” back from the cloud automatically.

💥 Scenario 3: Data Corruption or Crash (Level 3)

If you encounter serious data errors (garbled text, frequent crashes), or need to recover without iCloud.

Solution: Manual Backup Restore (The Nuclear Option)

This requires you to have performed a “Forest Migration (Export)” before and hold a .forest backup file.

1. Reset App:

   • If App opens: Go to Settings > Data Management > Forest Seeding (Import).
   • Select “Replace Mode”.
   • Warning: This wipes all current data on the device and overwrites it with the backup.

2. Reinstall App:

   • If App won’t open: Delete and reinstall the App.
   • Enter the Import page and select the backup file to restore.

Due to MononoMori’s privacy-first architecture:

• We CANNOT: Remotely recover your data.
• We CANNOT: Decrypt your iCloud content.
• We CANNOT: Retrieve data that wasn’t backed up and was permanently deleted from local storage and Recycle Bin.

Please build the habit of Regularly Exporting Backups (.forest files) to a PC or external storage. This is your ultimate data insurance.
