Category Attribute Templates 📋

“Different items need different management. You wouldn’t manage your library like your groceries, nor your clothes like your electronics.”

MononoMori introduces “Category Attribute Templates”. This is not just a simple category tag; it allows you to define a unique “Data Structure” for each category.

What is a Template?

In traditional organizing apps, all items usually have fixed fields (Name, Quantity, Note). In MononoMori, when you define a collection (e.g., “Food”), you can tell the system: “Items in this category need to track Expiry Date and Shelf Life.”

When adding a new item to that category, the input form automatically transforms, showing necessary fields and hiding distractions.

🛠️ Configuring Templates

Configuring templates is simple, usually done when Adding or Editing a category:

  1. Go to Settings > Category Management.
  2. Tap + at the top right, or tap an existing category to edit.
  3. Switch to the “Attribute Template” tab.

1. Standard Fields

The system has built-in advanced attributes you can toggle on/off:

  • 📸 Item Photo: Can be turned off for virtual items to simplify the interface.
  • ⏳ Expiry Date: Enable for expiration alerts. Perfect for food, medicine, cosmetics.
  • 💰 Purchase Info: Includes purchase date, price, store. Great for valuables, electronics (warranty calculation).
  • 🏷️ Tag System: Whether to enable tagging.
  • 📝 Memo: Toggle the long text note field.

2. Custom Fields (Pro)

If built-in fields aren’t enough, add custom ones. Supported types:

  • Text: Short text (e.g., “Author”, “Origin”).
  • Number: (e.g., “Pages”, “Calories”, “ISBN”).
  • Date: (e.g., “Opened Date”, “Publication Date”).
  • Boolean (Switch): Two-state toggle (e.g., “Read/Unread”, “Lent Out”).
  • Selection: Preset options (e.g., “Color”: Red/Blue/Green).
  • Multi-Selection: Checkboxes for multiple attributes.

3. Presets

To help you get started, we provide one-click presets:

  • Groceries: Enables expiry date, storage method.
  • Digital: Enables purchase date (warranty), serial number.
  • Clothing: Enables size, season, brand.
  • Books: Adds “Author”, “Publisher” as text fields.
  • Medicine: Strengthening validity and dosage management.

💡 Practical Examples

Case A: Home Medicine Cabinet 💊

  • Category Name: Medicine
  • Enable Standard Field: Expiry Date (Critical!)
  • Add Custom Fields:
    • Dosage (Text) - e.g., “3 times a day, after meals”
    • Symptoms (Multi-Select) - Cold / Fever / Pain / Allergy
    • Prescription (Switch)

Case B: Personal Library 📚

  • Category Name: Books
  • Disable Standard Field: Expiry Date (Not needed)
  • Add Custom Fields:
    • Author (Text)
    • Status (Selection) - To Read / Reading / Read
    • Rating (Number/Selection)

✨ Continuous Add Mode

At the bottom of template settings, there is a thoughtful “Continuous Add Settings”. When organizing a box of similar items (e.g., after supermarket shopping), turn this on:

  • Retain Metadata: After saving one item, the new form keeps the Category, Location, Tags, and Purchase Date, only clearing the Name.
  • Efficiency: You just type “Milk” -> Save, “Bread” -> Save. Lightning fast.

By mastering Attribute Templates, MononoMori transforms into whatever you need it to be—a wardrobe manager, a library catalog, or a medicine tracker. Defined by you.
